Endodontic treatment (or root canal therapy) is performed to save the natural tooth.

Endodontics is the treatment of the inside of the tooth called a pulp. The pulp extends to the tip of the root where it connects to tissue surrounding the root.  The inflamed or infected pulp is carefully cleaned and shaped then the space is filled and sealed.  Afterwards a crown or restoration is placed on the tooth to protect and restore the tooth to full function.

Signs and Symptoms of endodontic problems:

  • Inflammation and tenderness in the gums
  • Teeth that are sensitive to hot and cold
  • Tenderness when chewing or biting
  • Tooth discoloration
